Police have arrested a suspect for the vandalism of historic monuments at Westminster College in Missouri. Fulton police say 24-year-old Victor Calderon wanted to be a part of “the downfall of tyranny,” at least superficially, so he spraypainted “Breakthrough,” a sculpture composed of from pieces of the Berlin Wall, as well as a Winston Churchill statue and the Church of St. Mary the Virgin which was transported from London and rebuilt to commemorate the Prime Minister’s visit. While clean-up efforts are washing the monument and church of the “Who Are We?” scribbles, it looks like ridding the Berlin Wall sections of Calderon’s toy tags without destroying the historic paint will be a tougher task.
