Charges against the North Carolina firefighter who allegedly shot a cyclist in the head out of concern for his safety have been reduced from attempted first-degree murder to felony assault. Previously facing more than a decade in prison for the nearly life-ending attack, 42-year-old Charles Alexander Diez is now looking at a two-year sentence following a Asheville grand jury’s secret deliberations. |Citizen-Times|

The day you become a cop, you are issued your (unofficial) 007 lifetime license to kill!!! I remember Dan White, who killed the mayor of San Francisco. This was premeditated, and TELEVISED.
