A Belgian teenager is suing a tattoo artist for $14k to remove 56 star tattoos covering half her face. 18-year-old Kimberley Vlaeminck claims she paid to get 3 star tattoos near her eye, then fell asleep during the needle jabbing procedure and awoke looking “like a circus freak.” She blames Romanian tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz’s broken English and French for the permanent mistake. He says she “asked for 56 stars†and that the trouble only “started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit.†|Daily Mail| Update: Was it a hoax? I think the girl is a liar. I find it hard to believe that a tattooist would do something like that against a person’s will. How can someone even fall asleep and not feel the tattoo being performed? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.
how is it possible you fall asleep during a tattoo? i have four so i understand what it’s like to get tattooed and especially if you’re only having three done.. there wouldn’t really be much time to fall asleep. so i reallllly think this girl just was like “OH it looks terrible… i’m gonna sue him”

everyone is differe, im not saying i agree with what she is saying, i am just saying that it is possible to fall asleep. I fell asleep when i got 3 tattoo's a huge one on my lower back and a decent size one on my chest, its completely possible to fall asleep while under the needle especially if you are relaxed! im 20 and i live in hawaii, its pretty much my culture to get some sort of tattoo .. at least polynesian so i have 9 and of all of them ishe h fell asleep for 3 of them… my three biggest pieces.. it took at least 2-3 hrs for all of them. so you never know.. but again that girl … hmmm idk what to believe.. she obviously had to have it stenciled on before they do the actual work right!?! so she is leaving something out .. or something.. i love stars i have 5 of them … but sadly for this girl … she should have written down the number 3 .. that sucks
This story is hilarious….the pure fact that 'tiera' is correct…A stencil will have been placed on her before-hand and she will have been asked if the stars are all in the right place.
Ok the falling asleep bit seems a bit impossible for just 3 little stars but i nearly fell asleep on one of mine, i don't notice the needle after about 20 seconds or so and i like the noise i find it very relaxing.
If you pay attention to the last part of that article though it says her boyfriend and father threw a fit then all the trouble started, i have a feeling they disapproved and now she is trying to change her story…Well she'll either win or lose the case but thank god it's not me haha
Im heavily tatooed (probably over 50, dont count them anymore). Its possible to fall asleep during a tat. I have. I feel asleep during a 3 hour session on one of my sleeves. After a couple hours of getting tattoed in the same spot it can feel numb and be relaxing (depending on the area). Though I highly doubt this girl did. Considering the tats are on her face, and I didnt see any other tats on her so she would be real excited about getting her first (or maybe second or third tattoo) and no way she would fall asleep. Unless maybe she was on Heroin or oxy. Though she did say she only wanted 3 stars and the dude misunderstood her… and the stars do resemble the number 3 around her face…thats odd.
And no, a stencil most likely would NOT have been used for a tattoo like this. Any tattoo artist worth a damn could free hand stars. It would have been easier for the artist to just do the tattoo, instead of using a stencil (stenciling this would require exact measurments of the face and what not to line the stars correctly, would be easier without it.)

Yes it is possible to go to sleep during a tattoo HOWEVER it is highly impossible to go to sleep with a tattoo is ON YOUR FACE! she's a liar and just wants money because she eventually realized she wouldn't like it after all. If its your face and your sleeping HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO KEEP YOUR HEAD STILL? He would constantly move your face to get the right spot and position it correctly. You would have to have some serious disorder to be able to knock out like that and not wake up to someone constantly moving your face. SHE A DUMB ASS LIAR
It is scientifically said that it takes a person about 12 minutes to fall asleep, so if her tat took, let's say…10 minutes, then how was she able to fall asleep? Do the math.

Doesnt she realize that Laser will leave scars on her face anyway. Theres always white lines from laser but at least she could cover it with makeup if she does that. However, there is no way she would have fallen asleep during that & what it really comes down to is that shes afraid of the negative feedback from the boyfriend and father/family. What an idiot. First of all, a professional tattoo artist would never tattoo without a stencil. 2nd of all, face tattoos art extremely painful. 3rd of all, as soon as the client "passes out" or falls asleep, tattoo artists MUST STOP and wake them up before continuing. She is full of it.

Not to say one couldnt fall asleep while under a needle, but with a face tattoo i agree, its damn near impossible. The tattoo was done outside of the USA so the standards that we hold our tattoo artist to might not apply there such as if she “fell asleep” or even if she were drunk or drugged (tattoo artist will not work on a person in the US if they are under the influence of any drug. The thing that gets me is tattoos are painful at first, and even a small star like those would take approx. 5 to 10 minuets each, and in that little of time its going to hurt and its not going to go numb, so I dont see anyone going to sleep. Next look at her nose, the placement of the star on the side of the bridge of the nose, thats a bone area, thats going to hurt like hell, there is no way she would have fell asleep or stayed asleep during that one.
I have 5 tattoos, one fairly large pieceon my ribcage. After an hour or so I felt like drifting off but would snap out of it once a new nerve was hit.. It is funny it’s in the shape of a three on her face so that may be where the misunderstanding came from, however I don’t see how you could mix up 3 with 56and if so how hard was it for her to lift up three fingers? I feel they should administor a drug test before and money is granted to see if it was possible for sleep to play in or to see how strung out a person would be to request a tattoo like that. When you get a tattoo you fill out a form about medical history and agree that you are not under the influence, if her test comes back positive that form is void on her part. The artist never mentioned her falling asleep and no one in their right mind would play a cruel joke like that. She is not telling the whole truth and she probably has some money coming from her dad or a will that may be threatened so she has to get it removed or no expensive car for her from daddy. Also one thing I noticed what about the price estimate? Didn’t she think something was wrong when she was easily paying three times more than a small two inch tattoo? I have 9 tattoos and some fairly large ones. But when you fall asleep or about to fall asleep the tattoo artist is required to wake you up! Let alone you much consent and sign paper work saying yes to what and where they are tattooing. I don't understand how she could not feel it when they constantly will be moving her face to get the right angle and not only that but ALL tattoo artist must use stencils. I have 2 stars tattoo even though that are about the size of a quarter and you think any tattoo artist in their right mind could do that free hand they aren't allowed to in case something goes wrong they use it for their own protectiong. This girl is just an idiot and can't own up to wanting an ugly tattoo and didn't like the negative feed back so she is trying to blame someone else for her problems.

Secondly….you dont tattoo a drunk or under any substance..person…3 or 1 or 56 stars on the face.you simply dont..!
Third…you cannot fall asleep..while being tattooed on the face…unless..under heavy drugs.
Both parts have serious responsibility in that case……..many deatails are missing or hidden for serious purposes.

let me start…..i have been tattooing for some time.any artist how good or bad.required to use stencils.i will tatto anyone,not under the influence of anything for that fact,anywhere they want,after they properly fill out my forms,im currently in the process of doing a full head tattoo..to be exact,a pkeonix,that starts just above the eyebrows and extends to the mid back.FULL HEAD PIECE….he is heavily tattood…by far it is the most extreme area is the face and head..in his words. its a fucking life expierence…there is no falliing asleep,with that or the face…..ignorant little girl needs to own up.maybe read some of our comments and retain a clue!!!!!thank you…from rhode island
i am coverd and also tatoo.artist i have neva seen ne 1 fall asleep 4 a face peice. i have sleept thru other less painfull parts. theres no way she sleept thru the hole thing. shes lyn no artist would risk there rep and livlyhood for sum dumb girl

I think this is silly . The girl admit to lying about the tattoo because once her boyfriend saw her face he broke up with her and her father was outraged . She loved the tattoo's but once her family saw and didn't like it she got worried and came up with an excuse . It is nearly impossible to fall asleep while have a tattoo done on your face because the face is very sensitive . Any professional tattoo artist would make sure their customer is not asleep and has approved no matter how small the piece might be .
This isn't saying that it isn't impossible to fall a sleep while getting a tattoo because it is possible . But it was not true that this girl fell asleep while getting her facial tattoo . She has admit to lying .

She was high on something…A professional artist will stencil the tat first and make you sign a consent form…hopefully this artist did just that. BUT THE TRUTH IS THIS CHICK HAS PROBLEMS AT HOME AND IS LOOKING FOR ATTENTION AND HER 15 MIN OF FAME!!!!! Kudos to the artist. He is getting his 15 min of fame without even looking for it. I know the artist will win this lawsuit. With this he, will get plenty of new customers. I'm sure I will see him in the magazine on the next issue

I have a few things to point out. Stars are very hard to draw correctly, even when tracing them. The smallest messed up line can screw the whole damn thing up. Also a good tattoo artist would wake their client up if they fell asleep. They could twitch or move in their sleep and screw everything up. There are many ways to get your point across to someone who doesn't speak your language and if the guy knew broken French and English I'm sure he knew his numbers. Not to mention he would have put the stencils on her face because it doesn't matter if it's easier or quicker to free hand them on, any good artist cares more about the quality of the piece and not how quickly they get it done. Besides tattoos are usually paid by the hour so the longer it takes the more they get. She's just and idiot for getting something like that, especially for her first tattoo. It drives me nuts. And I'm sure the face hurts more than any other place on the body, while keeping it pg-13, so I doubt she fell asleep. Peace
