Well here’s your government at work ladies and gents: The U.S. Coast Guard managed to freak the hell out of Washington DC residents this morning when they opened fire on a boat near the Memorial and 14th Street bridges. They now claim that it was all just a “training exercise,” though it appears as though no one at the Coast Guard bothered to warn the locals that they’d be causing a ruckus on September 11th while memorial services attended by President Obama took place nearby. (UPDATE: The Coast Guard is now saying that no shots were fired during what was a “routine training exercise.”) ICNN & WTOPI

Everyone needs to get a grip….if it is a drill why would you tell anyone. The object is to do the drill and measure the response and preparedness of the system and protocols that are in place to deal with an emergency. I do not have an issue with the timing or place, I don't believe that the terrorist will pick a place and time of your choosing, but you can ask, maybe they will you never know. Also, I believe Frances Townsend owes an apology for calling this stupid…………..
