To protest some new hunting laws, the Alliance for Animal Rights—in a gory nod to PETA’s annual running of the bulls die-in—recently staged a bloody street theater mess in Russia’s second-largest city. A camouflage-clad “hunter” “massacred” a group of youngsters in underwear and animal masks. Then, much drumming and chanting ensued. Avid hunter Vladimir Putin was probably chuckling and oiling his rifle butt-naked while watching coverage of the stunt on state-run TV.
