Bitchy Neighbor Ruins Neighborhood Mural
Apart from the dispensaries and warm weather, Los Angeles sucks. It might be the only city where someone would complain about cutesy street art and say it “seems ghetto.” Graffiti we understand—being all scary and gang-like—but does this bear and his woodland friends by artist Phil Lumbang look dangerous?
Well it doesn’t matter much now, thanks to ONE complaint from a neighbor, LA’s Building and Safety Department informed the couple who commissioned the mural that it’s in violation of the city’s ordinances on outdoor advertising or something and it will have to be removed or they’ll face fines, despite the fact that it was done legally, on private property, with the owner’s permission. That neighbor sucks! God forbid someone try to beautify the neighborhood with cuteness and messages such as peace plus love equals happiness. Growl.
This is proof that the Los Angeles County Building Commission is run by morons.
I totally agree that if this was some gangland writing with 18th Street Gang written on it, it would make the place seem "Ghetto".
But its a bunch of bears, and according to the owner, its DIRECTLY across the street from a pre-school. What better way for the kids to stay positive in such a gang-influenced city than seeing happy, peacful bears daily. This is a shame and even a bigger shame that the city would not even consider giving them a free pass just this once for this mural.

I bet if they painted the wall pink and said it was for Breast Cancer awareness no one would call it Ghetto.
