The majority of female-produced art these days is slap-tagged “feminist” or “post-feminist” in a sort of redundant/defensive tourettes of art speak, but it might fit the bill for the current show and upcoming live performance Born to Perform by Australian artist Maria Petsching. On Stellar Rays’ current ALPHA & group exhibit is screening her video art piece, which can be pre-peeped here in all its silent, spliced, unsettling glory. Exploring “transient acts and their permanence in the physical world” through “human forms” and “handcrafted efforts,” Petsching performs this Thursday night.
