wow, this sounds like a made up story but NO…it's true. it's hard to believe there are that many retards in one place at the same time; teacher, principal, school "safety" officer (?), and at least three or four cops.

dear NYPD, next time you get a call like this, slap the dumbass principal on the back of the head and tell him you have crime to fight…you're not guidance counselors or babysitters.

I can't believe the police were called up over some silly graffiti… what next?

The kid who launches a spitball gets thrown into jail for 3-5 years?!

Over here in Australia the worst you'd cop for some graffiti is some harsh words or at most maybe detention for doodling on a desk. (1/2 the time the teacher would just tell you to stop… depending on how bad it was)

I mean comeon, all she did was doodle on a desk! This kind of stuff was taken way too out of proportion!

@Mason – Not alot might of happened while she was detained but for a 12 year-old (PRE-TEEN) girl to be detained for something so small is unacceptable! If the police were called in each time someone did some graffiti, interrupted the teacher, sniggered at an inappropriate comment or slept during class, we may as well cut out the middle man, fire the teachers and send police to do the job!

Normally lawsuits happen when officials fail to follow procedures. Now they're being sued for following procedures too precisely? Perhaps they could have been more gentle with a middle school girl who committed a non violent offense. Perhaps they should have been. But if the only issue is that the authorities followed procedures too well, then this lawsuit is a joke. If the student was mis-treated then that would be a much different story. Maybe the procedures should be revised for the future in dealing with young teens like this. Till then, we shouldn't punish school officials and law enforcement officers for doing exactly what they're supposed to do.

I would like to thank the school and the police department. It is called graffiti. On a desk, on a wall, on a building. It is still graffiti. Maybe she learned a lesson and maybe the other kids might take note. All that happened to her was that she was detained at the police department. Boo Hoo

I bet she won't do it again, but with the ambulance chaser lawyers out there they will try and sue for nothing.
