Although politicians still haven’t reached a consensus on health care, they all agree that sentencing for possession of crack and powder cocaine should more equal and so, on Wednesday they passed new legislation. Previously, someone convicted of crack possession was given the same time as someone with 100 times that amount in powder cocaine. That means a person caught with one gram of crack would get the same time as a person with almost a quarter pound of regular cocaine. Now the ratio is 18 to 1.
