Is Lady Gaga’s New ‘Telephone’ Video A Commercial?
No, but there’s a WHOLE lot of product placement. Some of it done not so artfully. Sure, it might not “interfere” with the video like bitchbuzz notes—the first time you see it—but after several views it becomes a little much. Here’s a small sampling of brands that starred in it:
Polaroid, Nemiroff Vodka, HP, Diet Coke (used as hair rollers), plentyofish.com, Lady Gaga’s Heartbeats headphones, Honey Bun pastries, Miracle Whip, Wonder Bread, and Virgin Mobile, who just announced a tour with the performer. Brand synergy!

YAY SYNERGY!
Just saw this excruciating video, boy, that was 9 1/2 minutes of my life wasted! Yes, it's very blatant on the Virgin Mobile product placement. And I'll never eat Miracle Whip again. But really, who in thier right mind wants a young girl to watch this trash?? How can MTV even show this before 10 PM? It's a very sexually graphic, lesbian-worshipping prison smut-fest. I remember the slap I caught across the face when I was a teenager and snuck "Reform School Girls" with Wendy O.Williams into the house one night for a sleepover with some friends. I paid for that sin for 2 weeks. Now that I am a Mom, I see what rubbish that really was, and I cannot fathom my young daughter watching something else like this. Up until now, I did not mind Gaga's music swirling around the house, but this video clearly elevates her trashiness to an art form. Parents: lock-out your children's MTV if possible while this one makes the rounds!!!!!!
"How can MTV even show this before 10 PM?"
Since when has MTV shown any music videos? Your mommy rant was the funniest thing I've read all day.
Why does everyone love Jonas Åkerlund? Most of his videos are derivative ads for something else.
