R.I.P. Christopher Hendricks aka POKE 1974-2010
New York City lost one of its native sons with the passing of Christopher Hendricks, better known to friends and foes alike as POKE. He died on Thursday at the age of 35 from complications due to a long standing battle with Crohn’s disease. The Queens-born, graffiti addict (writer, photographer, gatekeeper) was one of those rare breeds who didn’t pull any punches and stayed passionate to the fullest. POKE will be missed by his Bomb Squad brothers, the mighty DMS crew, and a network of friends from coast to coast. RIP my man!
A memorial service will be held from 2PM-6PM on Sunday, May 30th at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY.

It was a long time ago but a fond childhood memory: Me, Chris (Pre-POKE days) and Jason acting out the scenes to the Blues Brothers while watching it on Betamax in their apartment. Chris and Jason were Jake and Elwood and i played every other character. it was a pure moment of childhood joy and i will never forget it or you.

Poke – I will never forget that year I spent hanging out with you Kech, Teck etc in NYC. It was one of the best times of my life. You guys were always really cool to me and had my back even when it was looked down upon to kick it with "outta towners". Always quick with compliments and words of encouragement about what I was up to. The last time I saw you was in San Francisco a few years back. I rememeber you buggin out on how there were weed "medical dispenseries" in every neighborhood. I think I even bought you some weed breath spray.. Hah. Anyway, thanks for everything and even though we didn't always stay in close touch I will never forget you.

A whole year has gone by, but your presence is all around us Your niece who thought you were the coolest goes on Poke sightings. She shares them with us , she too is an excellent photographer as her cousin Poke was. What saddens me is knowing how many friends he had and everyone promised a showing of his incredible talent. What happened to the " show". It would be a wonderful tribute to him and give much comfort to his loving family.His family misses his terribly. Chris , was and will always be a legend to us. Met Poke through various graff acquaintances back in 1993 when I was 15 yrs old in Queens. He told me that "MQ and Bruz started bombing hard when they were also 15 yrs old" and if I progress at my pace I would one day become king. Even though we had our differences through graff beef with his boys later on, I still got respect for him schooling the younger generation at that time to keep sprayin. RIP Poke BS KNO RTD DMS KED
