Rome’s Vandal Epidemic Creates New Job Market for Ex-Cons

Since a dye-chucking prankster turned the Trevi Fountain red, Rome’s precious public statues have been under attack with tags, cracks and scribbled swears. Busts are consistently de-nosed, presumably by hammered, hammer-happy students. The vandalism is so rampant that the resource-strapped gov-heads are forced to parole convicts and have them guard Rome’s monuments. Drunk kids and ex-cons… Yeah, that should work out dandy.
