City’s Correctional Department Promotes (Legal) Graffiti

There is a graffiti exhibit in Brooklyn that’s located in one of the most unlikely places: Family Court, specifically the probation department office. It’s part of a pilot program for young vandals that encourages them to use their letter-popping talents for legal purposes.

Paint Straight” features work from offenders currently enrolled in the “rehabilitation curriculum” that bears the same name and will be on display through September 15th, but not everyone is invited. The Times reports: “To protect probationers’ privacy…the department is not encouraging the general public to attend.” But if you insist, sneak a peak at 330 Jay st. 11th Floor.
