COST’s Newspaper Box Sells for Over $4,000

After just 14 bids, someone on eBay sold, what appears to be, the COST customized newspaper box for Showpaper that was purposefully stolen off of Second Avenue about two weeks ago. And did so for $4,200. Wow! Strangely, the seller installed some cheapy IKEA lamp in it and claims to have “purchased this item” from someone else.

Even more remarkable, whoever bought it, will have to pay for shipping from north Hollywood, California, that’s where it’s currently located according to the listing.

So if it's a stolen Picasso, they send Interpol after you. If it's stolen street art, even Ebay is okay with moving illegally-gotten goods on it's website… Nice.

  2. It's not illegally gotten if it wasn't legal to leave it in the street to begin with.

Like the Village Voice and other freebies, I assumed Showpaper put those boxes out legally. Is that not the case?

Did you just compare Cost to Picasso? Hah! I mean, don’t get me wrong I love what Cost and Revs have done and grew up with his stuff saturating NYC but…NO!

If I was COST. Which I am not. I would have my homies steal the shit out of it….and Ebay it.
