Friday is a good day to look back. So, let’s look back to this 1936 Alka Seltzer testimonial ad. “Frank Watanabe” was a radio personality. And that flattering floating head caricature most certainly did not look anything like the real Frank Watanabe, since Watanabe was voiced by an actor named Eddie Holden, according to a commenter at vintage ads. NBC. Proud As A Peacock. One more thing: shouldn’t that be “AH” so? |Image: vintage ads|

Interesting to note: The U.S. government used the national census to round up all the Japanese and put them into concentration camps until the end of the war.
I have a statue of Frank Watanabes head and was wondering how many were made and when. It looks just like the one in the 1936 ad for Alke Seltzer above. Can you give me any information on this?
Thank you
