
On Monday evening, a sinkhole swallowed up a piece of Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene. The area was taped off and a squad car was dispatched to “keep the stupid people taking pictures from falling in” according to the police officer guarding it. A week ago, a Brooklyn man was injured after he fell 7 feet into a sinkhole hole in East New York and in late July, a hunk of the East River greenway collapsed. For those of you who lamented the death of “old New York” the time has come to rejoice! The 2nd most annoying thing back in the “bad old days” was the total collapse of infrastructure due to disinvestment.
