Street artist fans the world over are likely in collective mourning with news that some of Banksy’s latest work in Manhattan has succumbed to the laws of the streets. Graffiti writer OMAR, smashed two of the stenciler’s pieces with silver paint and although it’s doubtful that he even knows ROBBO, did give him a shout, ensuring the continuity of that beef a little longer. See the other vandalized vandalism here.

this is not "beef" atleast I don't think it is.
What it is is FAME WHORES.
OMAR (along with whoever did that HENRY! crap) are the Lindsay Lohan's parents version of street-art trying to get fame and get people to talk about them off of someone elses fame.
I guess it's time for Banksy to take the "Shep" stage of his career and retire to be a gallery-only artist. At some point, you have to migrate from the streets to gallery. But you can't go back and forth. Didn't work for Shep and isn't working for Banksy either. Too many haters, famewhores and theives (looking at you Gallery 555). Time to put up the cardboard box in a frame and gallery that shit. Nobody gets to enjoy his street art anymore. Atleast not much longer than 24 hrs it seems.
SWATCH IS UP TO HIS OLD TRICKS
No one enjoyed his street art to begin with.
I did, I do.
this is so lame. im not a huge fan of banksy but at least his graffiti is somewhat thought-provoking, and has a nice aesthetic. it brightens up a dirty wall. this guy just scribbled over it and ruined it. this is why we cant have nice things.
the street is the street get over it art fags. If you wanna see pretty things go to a botanical garden.
banksy needs to regulate his spots
destroying Banksy's work before some douche bag gallery owner knocks it down to put into the art market is a Fucking Blessing. Does this make OMAR cool? No, but that's not the point. The "artist" that did this is not significant to me, it's the immediate commodity that was destroyed. If you miss the original Banksy pice, just look at a JPEG.
Battles for fame spots is graffiti. It is the streets. Keep your "pretty things" where they belong and head back to the 'burbs.
Looks like the city gets the last laugh, all gone now. Good Riddance.

I like the Banksy mural of the prisoner at union and metropolitan.
So, OMAR has a tag… Tags are promotional symbols, like a logo and a signature. It's one thing to tag over someone's painting, which could be incidental going over someone else, but to spray it down, obscuring it – why bother?
You know what this reminds me of? Old rap music when MCs would diss each other, or some nameless person. Sometimes it's funny, and sometimes the caustic tone is tiresome. I don't know which it is here, because I don't know the back-story in this case.
I haven't yet come up with my own tag, but if I take the time to paint something nice, it's probably not going to be within reach of those who don't want it to be visible even for a day.
Whether or not I would do street art depends on how much respect I get. I would figure I'd be a special case, enjoying great respect, caring so little about it. I'll find out when I find the time to do it.
good riddance. its just a damn witless image for all the morons who think hes great.
