Colorado has taken a California-like approach to its medical weed program, licensing hundreds of dispensaries around the state, and so far, so good. Patients are getting their medicine and generating lots of karma-free dollars in the process. The state collected $2.2 million in sales taxes for 2010 and Denver took in the same amount in local sales tax. But those numbers might be incomplete, as they don’t include what must be a marked increase in the sales of lighters, bongs, and presumably, soft drinks.

Sweet! And the dispensaries and grow rooms took over all the affordable artist studio spaces near downtown. Go go pot!
