After a mostly quiet morning protest-wise, things quickly heated up blocks from the World Trade center site. A man who refused to give his name, burned and tore out some pages from a Koran at the corner of Park Place and Church Street. UPDATE: Videos added below.
The NYPD quickly reacted and escorted the man out of a press designated area as journalists descended on him and continued to follow him for blocks.

If I were this guy, I'd say this whenever I got on the air: "Well, hearing how upset the World seems to be at the idea of me burning a Koran, maybe we should protect all of our troops and buildings with a layer of protective Korans. If Al Qaeda won't value human life, at least we know they won't attack for fear of harming a book."
Which also makes me wonder if Al Qaeda stopped to consider that every time the blow up a marketplace in Iraq, they might risk destroying a Koran.
Imagine an imam saying this: "They jihadists of 9-11 commited a haram sin! They destroyed many Korans in the World Trade Center on that day!"
One can be forgiven for being a bit cynical as I watch the hand-wringing concern over a bit of paper and ink by people who gleefully dance at the idea of infidels burning in hell forever.
