Israel, the only nation practicing state sponsored terrorism the U.S. supports, was condemned by most of the world for killing nine peace activists during a raid that went terribly wrong aboard a ship bound for Gaza with humanitarian aid. While still in international waters, Israeli commandos repelled from choppers onto the deck of one of the boats in an international flotilla and all hell broke loose. The soldiers say they were attacked first and and they did what they do best: responded with deadly force!
But according to the side with the casualties, the soldiers shot first. Ultimately, no weapons were found aboard, although David Frum would like to remind you all that they were carrying concrete, which of course is a war-making material. Regardless, most everyone agrees that there are better tactics Israel could have used to maintain their blockade of Gaza than to attack and then detain journalists and foreign nationals from around the world.

I'm sure that the US would *totally* worry about the "rules"/international community's opinion when dealing with a country who's not only refused to acknowledge our country's right to exist, but is also dedicated to our people's ultimate destruction. Israel is largely defending itself in what you refer to as "state sponsored terrorism".
That said, if the initial accounts are true, they *really* fucked up.

Bucky – I usually love your commentary but come on with this one. It's like you just regurgitated a press release from a fanatical NGO instead of doing the least bit of fact checking. First, there were weapons on the boat and after forty minutes of being pummeled and lynched, only then did the soldiers use deadly force on only one of six boats – the one boat with allegedly jihadi-linked passengers. Loss of life is regrettable and sad but the activists on the boats clearly decided to take this aggressive and violent approach instead of taking Israel up on it's offer to deliver aid for the boats – an amount of aid which pales in comparison to the amount of aid Israel provides on a regular basis to the citizens living in Gaza.

There absolutely were weapons on that ship, however primitive. When weilded correctly, metal pipes and knives are as deadly as bullets. Any loss of life is regrettable, however, in my view the Israeli soldiers were defending themselves and are therefore justified.
The only problem I have with the incident is it occurred in international waters. In that sense, yeah Israel fucked up, not for defending themselves or killing civilians that were attacking them but for boarding the ship too soon.
FYI I am not a Zionist or even a Jew. I do not support Israel's tactics or wholly agree with its right to exist as a country. I def do not agree with the blockade of Gaza. I am offering my pov objectively based on the footage I have seen and I am not convinced that Israel is responsible for what occurred on that ship.

A.) The IHH is a group Israel says is a terrorist organization and others argue differently.
B.) Saw the video, but according to other accounts and videos, the Israeli commandos fired on the passengers first.
C.) A bit one-sided? YES. Because Israel is often the oppressor and their blockade of Gaza is in violation of international law.
D.) Israel is also the same country that claims there is no humanitarian problem in Gaza, sorry if I don’t believe them.

Its amazing how easy people get fooled by headlines. Israel takes every precaution possible to eliminate casualties. Israel has been trying to eliminate their own casualties from Hamas by blockading Gaza. They have been escorting convoys with AID to GAZA since the start of the blockade. If the ships would have cooperated and let the Israelies check the cargo, non of this would have happen.
Israel has been under attack from its neighbors since the 40's. It is the only democratic country in the region. B no coincidence it is also the most economically stable country as well.

Israel is always fucking up. If you were in the middle of an extremely difficult situation, you'd always be fucking up too. While you may believe that there were no weapons aboard this ship, there have been many other ships caught with huge caches' of weapons aboard. It's amazing to me how the world fails to understand that terrorists have no honor: they will use the guise of "humanitarian aid" to their advantage 100% of the time. Hamas or Hezbollah soldiers regularly travel around in vans painted up to look like Red Cross ambulances – or they will commandeer actual Red Cross ambulances for their own purposes. Hamas' main bunkers are located directly below the largest hospital in Gaza. They will put civilians in harm's way without a second thought – muslim and non-muslim alike (Isn't killing civilians what terrorist organization are all about? And don't give me that crap about Hamas being a legitimate gov't (which they may be now, but we all know where they came from and how they got started.)
Perhaps there were no weapons aboard this ship and perhaps there were. Everything going in and out has to be checked, and any organization that tries to run that blockade is foolish, dangerous, and more interested in publicity than actually helping people. Hamas will now use this blockade-running tactic to bring in actual weapons, which, if they're rockets, will be used to kill civilians in Israel.
