Suicide Forest

50 to 100 Japanese commit suicide in the Aokigahara Forest at the base of Mt. Fuji a year. The authorities do an annual sweep only, so the Yakuza pay homeless to rob the corpses for them. See the whole twisted doc short here.

Aokigahara: Suicide Forest is short film from Vice about Japan’s most popular suicide site, as inspired by a 1960’s novel. Come along with a very calm, raspy-voiced investigator as he finds victims, abandoned belongings, bones and nooses and tries to cheer up the indecisive would-be suicide campers.
