There’s no denying that West Africa is increasingly being used as a corridor to smuggle drugs, but, it’s hard to believe the figures being reported by the BBC on a major cocaine bust in Gambia. They say two tons worth $1 billion was seized. Do the math: 2 tons = 4480 pounds ($1 billion/4480 lbs. = $223k per lb or $13k oz/$464 g). Regardless of the “street value,” something isn’t adding up.
