Mass Fish Murder At Nuclear Power Plant

indian_point To keep the nuclear power plant at Indian Point from melting down and possibly causing the mandatory evacuation of NYC, billions of gallon of water a day are pumped in from the Hudson River to help cool the reactors. As the water is sucked in, there are screens in place to prevent fish from getting caught up, but the Department of Environmental Conservation estimates that almost a billion organisms a year are killed in the process and some people say that’s a good enough reason to shut down the facility. |AP|
