The current exhibit at the Merchant’s House presents: postmortem photography from the 19th century,  when “people dealt with death differently” and propping up your dead kid into a family portrait was a-ok. Features artifacts from the amazing Burns Archive and modern interpretations by Joel-Peter Witkin, Sally Mann, Hal Hirshorn and other oddball contemporaries.  “Memento Mori: The Birth and Resurrection of Postmortem Photography,” through Nov 29, Merchant’s House, NYC
