MoCA under Jeffrey Deitch commissioned Blu to do a mural for their 2011 Art in the Streets retrospective extravaganza. Less than 24-hours after he finished his piece – dollar-wrapped coffins with a few crosses tucked in – MoCA had it buffed.

Was it too controversial for MoCA? MoCA has given no statement, but hopefully not, ’cause then yawn at their retrospective. Was its anti-war imagery pissing off the Veterans Administration building across the street? They’ve made no complaints, supposedly. So, what really happened here? The whole thing smells amiss.
