The Anti Advertising Agency brings up a good point about the MTA’s hypocritical standards for accepting/rejecting questionable ads. When the Working Families Party attempted to buy $50k worth of space to run their WTF parody subway campaign, they were turned down because the MTA said they looked too similar to their official notices and more importantly, people may find them “offensive, improper or in bad taste,” according to spokesman Kevin Ortiz. If that’s the criteria, the how did those horribly distasteful “WTC Mosque” ads pass muster?
