Classically trained realist painter Natalia Fabia has a new obsession: Japan. The colloquial reformist (let “hooker” be the new “dude,” she says) sends her punk-and-pin-up femmes East for her upcoming solo show at the Corey Helford Gallery.
The show will feature twelve new oil paintings of Kawaii madness, including her first full nude – “a stunning fusion of male desires and Kaiju toys.” Also: a six-foot chandelier garlanded with 100 hand-crafted figurines, Swarovski shinies and sparking pink stuff. The oil painting above, Electric Marshmallows for Real Eyes, is just a taste. “Fashionable Aftertaste Without End,” Natalia Fabia, Jul 10 – Aug 11, Corey Helford Gallery, Los Angeles
