The good people at NORML will unveil this animated ad on a billboard in Times Square next week showing the huge increase in low level arrests for weed in NYC over the past few years and calling for its legalization. To maximize their PR efforts, the spot begins running on April 20th, ya know 4/20, the stupidest meme to be adopted by stoner culture since High Times or the Dancing Bears. Otherwise very cool.
Celebrating marijuana on 4/20 is incredibly stupid . Besides 4/20 being Hitlers birthday, do we really need to have a designated day to recognize herb?

Good idea – but a totally wasted opportunity. There is nothing vaguely persuasive about this ad. It will be largely ineffective, considering if people think smoking pot should be illegal, then an increased number of arrests would actually be a good thing to them. If anything, it just proves that law enforcement is working. This won't change anybody's mind. People who want to keep marijuana illegal will think, "good." And people who want it legalized already know all the sad statistics. Pointless use of ad dollars.
