H&M and Wal-Mart aren’t the only ones responsible for destroying clothing, add NYC to that list. The long standing practice of giving away counterfeit garments seized by the NYPD to organizations that provide for the poor appears to have been halted reports the Times. Now the apparel is shredded or trucked to Long Island where the city pays to have it incinerated, which isn’t too surprising for a municipality that has also adopted a policy of shipping out the homeless. |NYT|
