After numerous complaints on behalf of the borough’s orthodox residents, the MTA pulled some of Georgi’s vodka ads which feature the CEO’s daughter’s ass. Why can’t the Hasidim be more like the Amish and find a place where their prehistoric sensibilities aren’t imposed on everyone else around them?

I'm sure the Hasidim would love to relocate but the last place they had, where they lived in the countryside for like forever until it got ugly when everyone started stereotyping them, blaming them for all sorts of problems their countries were facing, attacking them on all major Christian holidays (or just when the spirit moved them), and then herding them into ghettos and camps. I guess you must of missed those episodes on The History Channel.

@cr I found this post to be refreshing. I don't like others religious will imposed upon the secular society I live in. Thats it. We live in a secular society and the day that changes I am leaving. Every "people" has a history and it's no excuse to tell others how to live because you were persecuted. Nobody gets a special pass.

I personally see a lot of similarities between the Taliban and Hasids (misogyny, religious fanaticism, poor fashion sense, homophobia, disregard for the rights of others, etc.)
The thing that should piss you off is not that Bucky compared Hasids to the Taliban (apt comparison, Bucky), but that a city administration in a democratic and secular society was forced to capitulate to a group of nutjobs from the 14th century who wear heavy winter coats at all times. The fact that the city infringed on the rights of a private sector enterprise to appease these people is the real tragedy. When you go live in a different country, you're supposed to acclimate yourself to that country's values and customs, not the other way around. The Muslims in Europe are cut from the same scummy cloth.
