Cops swooped in and issued summonses to seven men playing chess in an Upper Manhattan park recently. They were using the public chess boards in Inwood Hill Park, but this particular set of tables is located within Emerson Playground, which is off limits to adults not accompanied by children, even when none are around. Local parents were reportedly outraged by the actions of the 34th Precinct and say they bring their kids to learn chess from the men, who have become mentors to them.

I think the 34 Precinct needs something better to do like arrest the man who is always cracked out yelling bitch at women, when begging for money on 181st. But no they are going to kick mentors out of a thriving neighborhood. I once brought a wallet to the 34 I found on the 1 train that belong to a lady in the neighborhood. I wanted the wallet returned, but didn't have the time to take the to to her apartment. Since I was near the Precinct I took the wallet there. The officers behind the counter just laughed at me and barely budged until theysaw I was serious wanting them to return the wallet. Good Job guys!
Fuck the police!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wacky. Follow up with this one if you hear anything …
Yeah, look forward to seeing if their charges are dismissed or not.
It's a violation with appearance. What will probably happen is the judge will fine them. If they pay the fine then the violation is disposed favorably (becoming automatically sealed from their rap sheet, unless there's an error). If they fail to appear or pay the fine they will be a warrant for a misdemeanor that will stay on their rap sheet for ever…not to mention they will face up to a year incarceration. Hopefully the judge will laugh and throw the whole thing out, but they rarely do that. Opting for the fine.
