New Jersey Governor Chris Christie keeps finding new ways to drag his feet on the state’s medical weed law and is now proposing that Rutgers grow the leafy cure-all and hospitals dispense it. This is a departure from the original bill that proposed a less centralized system of distribution and radically different from other states, most of which allow patients to grow their own.
Some Democrats prefer the law in its current form and would like to see it enacted already, while others, like Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, rationalized the measure as a boom for higher education, saying it would be a “great opportunity academic-wise” for the state’s university “to be the cutting edge of developing new strains of marijuana that deal with illness.” Yeah like headaches, from finals.
