humanity perfume

Photographer Anne McClain is embarking on a unique art project: she’s been studying at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in the hopes of creating a fragrance that captures…wait for it…the smell of humanity. So what does humanity smell like?

According to McClain, it smells like “Indian white lotus flower with vanilla inflections, notes of maté tea and sustainable sandalwood from Australia.” McClain’s humanity perfume will be sold in glass bottles in the shape of the human heart, naturally, for $125, the proceeds of which will go toward funding the installation of a humanity perfume fountain in Brooklyn’s McGolrick Park.
