The NYPD says a 19-year-old from Brooklyn confessed to the fatal stabbings of two men on the 2 train last weekend. Brenddy Garcia reportedly implicated himself and two accomplices, although it was he who did the actual “cutting” according to a police sourced quoted by the Daily News. When thugs throw garbage at your head in the train station it's not a 'youthful hi-jinks'. I witnessed exactly the same thing number of times on the 2 and 4 train lines. Where a group of teenagers throw garbage at people as they leave the train, or the train is just about to close it's doors. It's becoming quite a fad lately. What it is in fact, is an assault on the peaceful passengers. When we tried to alert the train cops (who were literally right there on the same station and could have easily arrested the thugs) – they IGNORED us and pretended to be suddenly, completely taken up by giving directions to someone who interrupted us. The police literally refused to pay any attention to a small heard of shouting running thugs.
NY finest? NOT so much!
Until people start standing up for themselves in such circumstances – this sort of thing will only escalate and continue further. I have no sympathy for those who died – they instigated the attack. Criminal lives begin just like THAT! People trying to see how much they can get away with and try something bolder and bolder every time – until someone dies. Fortunately it was the attackers this time.
So Good JOB Brenddy Garcia – we need more of guys like you.
Let the lazy ones call you 'vigilante' – truth is – if you wait for Authorities to protest you – you'll be covered in garbage or dead 3 times over, before they show up.

Sorry, chick. Why was he carrying a knife? He looks like a big guy. If he was really in such trouble he could have thrown a punch or two. There is no good reason to pack a knife. If you carry a knife, you're looking for trouble. Second degree murder is still murder. When he decided to carry that knife, he took the risk of spending the rest of his life in jail. If he is found guilty, he has that decision to thank.

Sadly a group of men made the decision to brutally attack an innocent stranger in a public space and two were killed when he defended his life. A grand jury weighed all the evidence and has found that once they took those actions they forfeited the right to protection under the law, that his actions were justifiable, and cleared him of charges. Clearly this is a young man with a concsience who has been destroyed by this horrific outcome. Recently, two Ecuadorean brothers were also attacked in a public street in Brooklyn and one of them was killed. In long Island another group went hunting for Mexicans. In Pennsylvania a young Mexican was stompped to death in a park in broad daylight. Hate crimes against Latinos is on the rise in the US. I cannot understand why young latino men are being targeted for these attacks. Is it the anti-immigrant fervor that some people would use as a license to attack and kill us? Is it the growth of our community? Have our lives been so cheapened that across the board people think they can get together to humiliate and kill us ? I am disturbed by the reaction to these events. Rather than demonizing the attackers we should be talking about how to change our culture. How to get more Latinos involved in electing people who will focus on making this city work for everyone instead of lining their pockets. So that we dont all feel the need to carry a weapon just to be able to return alive to our families and homes, and so that another tragedy like this does not happen.
