Congratulations America. Today, the D.C. Council moved one step closer to legalizing medical weed. Congress still has to vote on the bill that would allow for a set number of dispensaries in the nation’s capital and if approved, this could be just the kind of jurisdictional nightmare the country needs right now. Otherwise have fun explaining how weed is illegal under federal law, but perfectly legal in the actual jurisdiction where the federal laws are written.

The courts need to rule that federal drug laws are unconstitutional where they relate to drugs that are not transported across state or international borders. There is absolutely no authority in the Constitution for Congress to have the power to stop someone from growing marijuana and selling it to his neighbor. That's a State issue, and many states wouldn't mind it so much (especially considering the potential tax revenue).
