Well here’s a heartwarming winter tale of cross-country travel on America’s railways: Five days ago, an Amtrak train left Sacramento, California in route for Chicago, Illinois. The train just pulled into its destination this morning, some 19 hours behind schedule, after being stuck in snow drifts “more than two stories tall,” the result of the massive snowstorm that blanketed the Midwest this week.
Passengers were said to be “tired, hungry and stinky” when they finally arrived at their destination. Imagine that! Suddenly those security lines at the airport don’t sound so bad, do they? |NBC Chicago|
