Bevy of Law Enforcement Assisted in Mob Takedown
It’s not easy rounding up over a hundred funny named gangsters and although the FBI is getting most of the credit, a contingent of authorities assisted.
The investigation included personnel from the Secret Service, Homeland Security, the Italian National Police and even the U.S. Army—I assume they found a way around that whole pesky Posse Comitatus thing.

The FBI's press release stated, "..the U.S. Army-Ft. Hamilton … also provided assistance." The assistance that the U.S. Army provided was only, to my knowledge, space and supervision of the arrestees within Fort Hamilton's military jail. Is the provision by the military of incarceration for civilians prohibited by the Posse Comitatus Act? For example, I could not quickly determine on the web if the Federal civilian prison United States Penitentiary (USP), Leavenworth, is run by civilians, even though it resides within Fort Leavenworth. Bucky, perhaps you should put a call into the Public Affairs Officer at Fort Hamilton at (718) 630-4721.
I think I'll post this at Gawker, too, and see who gets the answer first.
