Watch the City Get Covered In Snow

Anytime there is a blizzard in New York City nowadays, it’s very important that the snowfall is captured using time lapse video. Here’s what the last storm looked like.

Kaws Isn’t Even Trying Anymore

At this point, Kaws could put his XXs on tampon dispensers and they would sell or in this case, light bulbs. Hip hotel chain The Standard, is selling the limited edition incandescents as a set of three for only $65. So what was his inspiration? “I love The Standard and the different projects they have been doing,” said Kaws, and “when invited to create something I wanted to redesign something basic that could be found in every hotel room in the world so we decided to make a light bulb.” Also, presumably because it required little thought and he got paid a lot of money.

“Sylvia Plath Effect?” “Diane Arbus Syndrome?” Unknown artist Francesca Woodman threw herself out of a New York window at 22 and then her photography into the public consciousness. Picasso’s Muse Is Still Hot

I’m taking my Picasso rants back. Seems like his fave musetress Marie-Thérèse Walter is still very significant. Another Picasso portrait of the gal is up for auction at Christie’s next month, expecting to fetch $19-$29 million – no where near the $106 million record breaker last year or $85 million in 2006 (which would have been $139 million, had drunk Vegas casino owner Steve Wynn not elbowed a hole into it) – but still relevant. So, ladies. What do we learn from this? Next time someone famous trollops up to you with the line “I am Picasso So-and-so! You and I are going to do great things together,” consider it. Worst case scenario: You’re blowing some creepster out of a trashcan with a tiara on your head.

NYPD is Great at Seizing Cars, Terrible at Returning Them

Although its true that many cities seize vehicles from drivers after they are convicted of DWI charges, NYC is one of the only places that does so at the time of arrest. As if that policy wasn’t abusive enough, many suspected DWIs are having a hard time getting their cars back due to the NYPD’s incompetence reports amNY, creating a bureaucratic mess for persons who haven’t even been proven guilty.

Glenn Beck and That Hannity Guy Losing Their Markets

Both Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity have lost their host station in Philadelphia–the very station where Beck broadcast his show from 1787 to 1789, before he got mega-famous. Everybody agrees that losing such an important market is a huge blow to them. SORRY GUYS. THERE’S ALWAYS PHOENIX. Read more »

‘Comics Stripped’ at the Museum of Sex

A dirty comics retrospective at the Museum of Sex spans from ballooning vintage damsels to R. Crumbs’s charming, drooling misogyny to Marge in Playboy (aaack!!) and all up in the history of sex in cartoons. It’s cute how some previews don’t even try to get into Hentai. “Comics Stripped,” Starts Jan 13, Museum of Sex, NYC
