Future Forward Flying

Kind of like NYC’s Taxi of the Future design contest, NASA asked aviation titans Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Boeing to create concepts for aircrafts that fly cleaner, higher, and close to the speed of sound. And so they did. Basically, by the year 2025, we’ll be flying on stealth bombers. More fun pictures here.

Cops Arrest Drunk Owl

In Germany, police arrested a paralytic owl that got drunk on schnapps. A police spokesman said the owl wasn’t acting disorderly, but its eyelid was drooping, and “there were two little bottles of Schapps in the immediate vicinity.” Read more »

When Voina artists’ pre-trial incarceration was extended another month on Friday in St. Petersburg, the judge declined their bail offer – $66,500 for each, adding up to the exact amount Banksy’s aidciting “lack of information about the person providing the money.” And there it is, Banky’s anonymity, worth a million yet useless in court. NYPD Buys Back Stolen NYPD Gun

Last weekend, someone walked into a Brooklyn police station and sold a 9mm handgun for $100 as part of the NYPD’s ask-no-questions buyback program. Turns out that it was one of the guns that was stolen out of the 103rd Precinct stationhouse in Queens, presumably by cops who were pissed off about having to work the weekend shift. New York’s “Finest” indeed.

Herzog’s 3D Cave Film Trailer

The Cave of Forgotten Dreams trailer has just arrived and there’s Werner Herzog crawling around the oldest cave on Earth with a flashlight strapped to his head, gasping at very, very… very old art with a most familiar lilt, oh be still my heart. And the 3D caves are “fantastic” apparently. Look forward to a March release from IFC.
