Like gun control, supporting the legalization of weed or even the growing of hemp is tantamount to political kryptonite for our elected officials, so it’s kind of understandable why President Obama jokingly dismisses the issue whenever he’s asked about it, which is a shame, because producing cannabis and hemp is absolutely an industry that America could innovate, if given the chance. Even on April Fool’s (!) Day–it will get you in trouble. Just ask “G.W.,” a law school graduate who was denied admission to the New Hampshire bar because of a bunch of criminal convictions–including one for pretending to be a bank robber–as well as student loan debt that, sadly, isn’t much higher than my own law school-related debt load. Good news for really poor tourists and area hookers, the Sumner Hotel is officially open for business. Located right off Flushing Avenue on Sumner Place in Bushwick, they’re currently offering a promotional rate of $79.99 a night for a room with a queen size bed. The Chinese don’t give a fuck. Within earshot of rolling out their spiffy new, possibly knocked off stealth aircraft, a state run network broadcasted video of what they said was a J-10 fighter jet destroying a target during a training exercise, but there was one little kink. The footage looks awfully similar to a scene out of Top Gun, a popular U.S. propaganda film. Goodness gracious great balls of fire! (Sorry.)
Bored? Al Jazeera is doing it live today and broadcasting the massive protests that are going down in Egypt right now! Despite the government shutdown of Twitter, Facebook and the rest of the internet, the people have taken to the streets of cities all across the country and can be heard chanting “down with the regime,” referring of course to President Hosni Mubarak’s autocratic rule over the past three decades.
