Precious Dennis Hopper Polaroid Stolen From LA Gallery

A rare 8-by-10 Polaroid of Dennis Hopper taken by his actor friend Jason Lee was stolen from THIS Gallery in Los Angeles. Lee is offering a $25,000 reward and a heartfelt plea to the thief on the gallery’s website. It is a hugely sentimental single-print photograph and there is no negative; it’s “the one single physical document of the photographer’s time with his subject.” As the show was closing up, someone “stole a piece off the wall and bolted out the front door.” Aside from hurting the non-profit gallery’s business and reputation, the stolen Polaroid is oozing with bad karma. Remember that stellar text art portrait of Julian Assange by New York-based Malaysian artist Leon Lim that was chosen by TIME Magazine for their Dec 27th issue? Wafaa Bilal’s Body Rejects Camera Head Implant

Iraqi-American artist and NYU teaching assistant Wafaa Bilal’s year-long 3rdi project has hit a snag. His body rejected one of the three titanium posts implanted by an LA body-modification artist between his skull and skin. This mounted the web cam to the back of his head, but when steroids and antibiotics couldn’t alleviate the pain, the implant had been removed. The camera is temporarily tied around his neck – still streaming and pending a better surgical alternative to be re-installed. Read more »

Livery Driver Who Slightly Overcharged Multi Millionaire Pleads Guilty

Peter Rahhaoui is not only really ballsy, but also really dumb. In 2008, he charged Tony Chan, a really rich person from Hong Kong, $800,000 for a car service ride from Teterboro Airport to Manhattan reports the New York Post. That comes out to a little over $61,500 per mile. Not surprisingly, Rahhaoui plead guilty. (Photo: Jason Kuffer/flickr)
