Central Park, a place where cyclists used to ride in relative peace—while weaving through wandering rollerbladers, stroller-pushing mom herds, and lane hugging drivers—is the new front in the war on bikes. The NYPD has been aggressively ticketing cyclists who don’t stop at every light and so they’re fighting back, with an online petition.

According to a new study, pollution caused by traffic (7.4%) triggered the most heart attacks worldwide, compared to say coffee (5%), air pollution (4.8%) or sexual activity (2.2%). Although cocaine was most likely to increase the risks for heart attacks, only a small amount of people party, so it only accounted for less than 1 percent overall. Drivers beware!

Donald Rumsfeld has a book out so he has been hitting the media circuit, including an appearance on the Daily Show last night. In the extended interviews posted online, Jon Stewart lukewarmly grills him on the decision to invade Iraq and he shot back that the “world is a better place” without Saddam Hussein and therefore he can’t be too mad at that war, adding, he was a “brutal dictator.” Which is as true now as it was when Rumsfeld shook hands with him in 1983 as a special envoy to the Middle East.
