NYC Cop Car In London Mystery

An American expat in England sent Gothamist a photo he took of what appears to be a NYPD squad car, but in London, and not being driven by a cop. He explains: “I was recently walking around London, by the Thames River. For a split second this struck me as a very normal sighting, until I remembered that I was in London. He said he bought it at an auction or something.” Is that even legal?

Watch Japan’s Radiation Spread Across the United States

Radioactive particles from leaky nuclear reactors in Japan continue to rain on the United States in trace amounts that the government says we shouldn’t be worried of, milk included, and now you can monitor their progress via the EPA RadNet website in real time. It’s fun for the whole family.

Pot’s Medicinal Benefits Scrubbed from Federal Website

Just last week, the U.S. Department of Health’s National Cancer Institute raved about weed’s tumor-killing attributes on its website, but that was then and this is now. Seems like they’ve had a little change of heart. Check out the selective editing that NORML caught. Notice anything different? Back to 1975 it is.

Post Natural Apocalypse Scenes

Italian artist Giacomo Costa creates post-Apocalyptic landscapes of a deteriorated mega-metropolis dwarfed by gigantic, thriving trees and plants. Monster ferns are upheld with scaffolding while fogged over, mossy city left overs crumble away. Also, that looks like the High Line. Read more »

Everyone Can Now Go Back to Not Caring About the Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo’s Egyptian king cobra, whose epic dash for freedom spurred a popular Twitter account and lots of media coverage, has been captured according to NBC News. Oddly, a few hours earlier, the Times said it may have tracked down the @BronxZoosCobra. The actual snake was reportedly put in quarantine, or as we see it, solitary confinement. RIP Bronx Zoo Cobra meme. (Photo: Michael Gray/flickr)

Marc Ecko Wants to Brand You like a Farm Animal

Apart from perp walks and occasional b-roll news footage from the Midwest, I don’t see all that many people wearing Ecko anymore, but maybe Marc’s cutting edge promotion that’s sure to go over well, can swing things back in his favor. It’s called “Branded for Life” and yes, the details are every bit as horrific as the name. Read more »

Harmony Korine and James Franco Are Pushing It

Audience-dividing irritant Harmony Korine’s new short film with James Franco and alleged “real gun fight” will look something like this. See the full Franco-leaked NSFW photo of Franco getting grinded on by a group of nude black women in red bandannas below. Read more »

‘YOU WOULD’ Writes

Last night, I received an email from the person purporting to be the street scrawler “YOU WOULD.” It originated from www.youwould.info and the subject line read: “NECK FACES SCHOOL OF GRAFFITI.”* The whimsical correspondence was brief and provided some rationale for the tag, which for some purists, is a detestable mark that represents everything wrong with graffiti, while others have a more lighthearted street artsy appreciation, and are just thankful they can read it. Anyway, without further adieu: Read more »

‘Cardiff Kook’ Statue’s Van Gogh Make-Over

A small Cali town’s relentlessly humiliated surfer statue was meticulously “vandalized” yesterday when Snyder decked out the “Cardiff Kook” into Vincent Van Gogh for Vinny’s b-day, severed ear and absinthe and everything. He’s fully costumed, bloody-bandaged and sporting an easel “welded to fit on the nose of the board” with “a painting of the view from the sculpture in a post impressionism style” surrounded by 6 paper-mâché crows. Best statue trolling yet?
