Evil Horde Occupies “Controversial” Bike Lane

Hundreds of people showed up on Sunday to participate in the Prospect Park West family bike ride and not even the cyclist-hating New York Post was able to concoct a malicious or dismissive angle. I can’t imagine how pained the tabloid must have been to report the facts.

Lil Wayne Selling His Miami Home for a Net Loss

Last year, rapper Lil Wayne bought a mansion in Miami for $14 million. This year he’s selling it for $12.9 million. Did the luxury real estate market drop off or something? Nah, it more likely has to do with the $5.6 million he currently owes the IRS in back taxes. Damn, maybe Hov wasn’t too far off with that ‘Baby money’ line after all?

KATSU Adds Some Relevance to MOCA Exhibit

In just six days, the “Safest Show on Earth” will open at the The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, offering what should be an incomplete and thoroughly sanitized “history of graffiti and street art.” So, KATSU decided to pay a visit early and offer his unsanctioned critique by way of a paint-filled fire extinguisher on the museum’s exterior walls.

Lindsay Lohan Bloody Murder Fantasy Show

Why was Lindsay wallowing in blood and sucking guns last year?  Apparently, photog Tyler Shields wants to direct a Sharon Tate biopic where Lindsay plays Tate and Shields plays Manson. At least, that’s what he told the troubled starlet to get her to come to his house and roleplay sexy murder victim. Read more »

U.S. Navy Moves One Step Closer to Killing Pirates With Lasers

Last week, the U.S. Navy successfully debilitated a small boat with a “solid-state, high-energy laser (HEL)” in a weapons test off the coast of California. Presenting: The gists of literature’s biggest hits in the form of condensed, condescending to the under-read and occasionally un-P.C. titles. If you’ve ever wanted to read Yes, He’s Retarded by William Faulker, congrats. You just “did.”

Mister Softee Assisting In the NYPD’s Counterrorism Efforts

In 2002, the NYPD established a counterterrorism program called Operation Nexus to create partnerships with various businesses around the city with the idea that they would report any unusual purchases or customers directly to detectives working within this special unit. Which totally make sense for parking garage companies or entities dealing with bomb-making materials, but Mister Softee? Read more »

MTA Interns Hunt Down Artists for Trademark Infringement

Apparently, the MTA is working on closing their $100 million budget gap by finding dangerous “intellectual property” thieves like VH McKenzie who uses discarded MetroCards for her art, then threatening artists into either removing their work from online shops and Etsy accounts or cashing out 10% of the art’s value to “acquire a license.” That’s not always a lot or worth the hunt, but it’s all profit when unpaid interns find the culprits.
