R Train is NYC’s Filthiest

The latest “subway shmutz” report is out and the R train received a very nasty grade. According to the annual survey by the Straphangers Campaign, only 27% of R trains were deemed “clean,” making them the dirtiest in NYC’s transit system for the second year in a row. The 7 train on the other hand, was rated the cleanest at 68%. Other highlights: The M was most improved. The 6, B, E, L and R are getting worse and the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, A, C, D, F, G, J, N and Q trains remained “statistically unchanged.”

Chinese Ink, Westernized Nightmares

Artist Tim Hon Hung Lee synthesizes his Asian ancestry and British childhood with a series of elaborate works in Chinese ink on rice paper. There’s a delicate morbidity in the severed heads and skulls, but they’re submerged so ornately into leaves, petals and butterfly wings, it all really is like a “lyrical dream.”“You were born with a light between your eyes, I was born to answer your sun,” Tim Hon Hung Lee, May 20 – May 30, gallery nine5, New York.

Moments before, he was reportedly moving around the crowd saying, “Secret Service, coming through.” At least one officer drew his gun on the 30-year-old musician who was later released and not charged, as mild stupidity is still legal.
