When’s the Last Time This CNN Lady Went Running in Central Park?

CNN correspondent Randi Kaye delivered a sycophantic monologue on Tuesday in support of Mayor Bloomberg’s ridiculous new smoking ban:
Why? Because I am a New Yorker, and when I go for a run in Central Park, I like to smell the fresh flowers and the fall foliage when the leaves turn, not people’s second-hand smoke.
It’s kind of amazing how cigarette smoke nowadays lingers indefinitely and doesn’t dissipate like it used to. I wonder if she feels the same way about car exhaust?

Eh, I occasionally jog on the reservoir and catch a lungful of some Eurotrash tourist ripping a butt. It's not pleasant. I think a law that improves the enjoyability of a public space for most, and discourages an unhealthy behavior in the rest is not a bad thing.
I catch lungfuls of smoke walking on the sidewalk and find that much more irritating than in Central Park where there is SO MUCH MORE SPACE and it's easy to avoid people or for smokers to not be right around lots of people as they would on the sidewalk. Unfortunately, the sidewalk is the last refuge now, even if it seems worse from a health standpoint…I think this entire law is just to try to cut down on cigarette butt litter, which could have been solved other ways, but this gets more press
It has everything to do with the billions of dollars smoking related illness costs the state.
That's an interesting theory considering this was a NYC initiative. However, the official reason is the alleged damage that secondhand smoke causes, which of couse is not based on sound science since cigarette smoke tends to do things like dissipate in open air places.
My position against governmental intrusion speaks for itself and has been consistent since ANIMAL's inception. Also, as far as excise taxes being an effective way of reducing smoking, that's not fact, it's been a hotly debated issue for years and will continue to be one. Government intrusion? I would argue that the intrusion came from the companies whose marketing campaigns you fell for. Now you have this expensive (and increasingly annoying) addiction to contend with. You may benefit from learning about the history of cigarette marketing. And if you're such a G, grow your own tobacco and distill your own spirits…and don't complain about the healthcare costs associated with abuse of them..and don't look to make any deals with the feds when you catch a case (that would be real intrusive).
And yeah, cigarets and alcohol are bad….That's a very specious argument. Particularly, the excise tax bit of it. Expensive cigarets don't reduce smoking rates amongst young folks…not at all. And it's not like the amount of young folks who smoke is a key aspect when considering smoking rates. I mean, the manufactures don't try to hook kids for any particular reason.
You're a fucking moron sometimes, bro.
Won't the government please, please save us from these corporations? We need our politicians to stand up to these corrupt sleaze bags!
