No ‘Art in the Streets’ for Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Museum will not be hosting MOCA’s street art and graffiti exhibit as planned. Museum Director Arnold Lehman said it’s due to “severe reductions in financial support.” Really? After all the success in Los Angeles is it that hard to find a sponsor?
Are museum heads just afraid of the inevitable negative press by local tabloids? The decision kills any prospects of the institution ever hosting a real graffiti show, since this relatively safe one can’t even get greenlighted.
It’s too bad, we were looking forward to the backlash.

im very relieved.
thank god nyc will not be celebrating graffiti/street art- a celebration which would surely help increase the number of gang related shooting here such as the 19 that occurred this past weekend.
this exhibition doesn't increase gang related shootings….. If @propperganda had attended this in LA, they would know this street art is mostly about a vague history of street art in LA and somewhat global but only in westernized societies. I don't think Mr. A who is an aging hipster and has his art showing, is a crips//or// bloods gang banger. I believe if anything this exhibition would help the youth realize that we can revolutionize in a new way history has never encountered :]
i was being sarcastic
"real graffiti show" is an oxymoron.
