Nude-Lady Painter of Times Square Strikes Again With Same Old

Andy Golub’s models dropped trou’ down to tits and panties in Times Square again on Friday and the local artist proceeded to slather on neon smears and swirlies while a crowd of 150 oglers gathered ’round. Just like half a month ago. Just like half a month before that… Read more »

T Train Already a Big Hit

The Second Avenue subway is still years away from completion, but the T train is quickly gaining popularity among consumers of transit paraphernalia. It’s one of the MTA’s top 10 selling lines, despite its shade of robin’s egg blue, which the New York Times reports as being a tough color to work with interior decorator-wise. An Upper East Side designer echoes this worriment and says it could be disastrous if the T is juxtaposed with a line sporting a less flattering color. Oh, the travesty!

Ryan McGinley Copyright Lawsuit Dismissed

That far-fetched copyright lawsuit against Ryan McGinley and his alleged biting of 150 of photos from photog Janine Gordon has been dismissed as expected, as per the judge’s decision (PDF) — “the dictates of good eyes and common sense lead inexorably to the conclusion that there is no substantial similarity between Plaintiff’s works and the allegedly infringing compositions of McGinley.” Oh, and it’s worth a read. Tiny Hookers: Low Street Art

Now that everyone has noticed East London-based Mexican artist Pablo Delgado’s low-street-level paste-ups of Lilliputians in burqas, monk robes and skanky wears, journalists are asking what’s with all the little hookers. “They are not really a comment on prostitution itself… The prostitutes represent what is happening in East London – with the Olympics everyone is trying to sell themselves,” Delgado says. True, and there will be more business for hookers. He says he likes the distressed look of his older, dirt-speckled, peeling little people from all the weather, pedestrian wear and tear… and whatnot.

Another 9/11 Tribute Facing Money Problems

Just like the 9/11 Memorial, the annual Tribute in Light, is also facing financial struggles and without enough money, could end up going dark. Each year, the group that operates the bird disrupting beams has to scramble to cover the hundreds of thousands of dollars it costs to maintain. The Municipal Art Society scraped the funds together for this year’s 10th anniversary, but is currently asking the public to donate. (Photo: Marisa Soto)
