Kanye West Visits Protesters, Surprises Russell Simmons With Niceness
As reported by all of Twitter, one of hip hop’s most conspicuously consumptive rappers, Kanye West, visited some of Wall Street’s most humble protesters at Zuccotti Park and to the shock of Russell Simmons, was rather pleasant to the crowd. Uncle Rush tweeted: “I just walked @kanyewest thru the #occupywallstreet. I love how sweet and tolerant he was to the crowd.” Shouldn’t this be the other way around? i don't get it. why should it be the other way around? i'm not an avid kanye fan but he's never really done any wrong in my opinion. even the taylor swift thing and the cockyness; is it wrong to live life on your own terms like that? is this really offputting the moral compass of society? i don't get that statement. and considering u're a true hip hop head, u should know how important kanye is to the culture. he's pretty much the only one keeping it afloat.
The clue is in the word 'consumptive'.
Kanye is keeping Hip-Hop alive. Shit. Where have I been?
well, he's the only doing anything noteworthy in hip hop. thing is, even if the music is stale it's still a living and breathing culture. and kanye, like him or not, is contributing more to it than anyone else. and he's not a BOB or hipster hop bullshit; he's cut from the same cloth of hip hop culture. his relationship w/kweli, common and most importantly no id is what ties him. and yes, be was what made common relevant again. i like it more than even resurrection. and i know this bc i am hip hop. i live the culture and my roots are from the hood.
don't confuse it with your outsider perception of the culture. reading blogs
sorry. broken thought. typos and distractions. but to answer your question,
you've been either outside or asleep. hopefully not sleeping outside. unless you like camping
Pretending to know me. That’s mad hip-hop son! For all you know I’m doing a headspin and beatboxing right now. And when I finish imma catch tag while spinning vynil records with my testacles. Wanna battle me son?! You fucking lame. You don’t know me from a whole in the wall. You’re a fan. It’s obvious. I do shit…
Side lining ass sucker.
side lining ass sucker? suffering succotash, what's ur battle name? yosemite sam? and again, it's not like about doing this or that, it's about living in and contributing to the culture. i'm a kanye fan but i rarely listen to his music. i'm actually by product of the golden era. and if you're battling now, then good for you. too bad you missed the boat on hip hop. if anything, i feel sorry for you more than anythign else.
and i'm not pretending to know you. thing is i don't know you and if you're an mc, then that might be a bigger fish to fry. lemme guess, you're from the midwest? probably white and your struggles entail being ignored by mom and dad or not getting the exact car you want when you turned 16? i'm probably wrong on some of those accusations.
but if you really want to talk about hip hop, who would you say are you biggest influences? quick, do a google search.
You fucking cornball. Kill yourself and take your family with you.
for real, how can you instruct me to kill myself and take my family with me w/o earning my trust and respect first? seriously, i thought you midwesterners were supposed to be well-mannered.
in any case, the fact that you've backed down from a true conversation about hip hop just kind of ruins your credibility to talk about it.
either way, maybe if you were drop a few bars about how i should kill myself, i'd reconsider it. all praises due, mc yosemite in the house! suburban upbringing represent!
R's comment is loaded and without merit. Occupy folks have no agenda, no real plan of action, unfortunately, but they do complain of the ills of a failing consumptive attitude generated by a capitalist society. R's comment is misdirected bc Kanye is an effect of the system not the cause of it. Kanye can be squashed by big banks and convoluted government just like anyone else. What happens in the eco-political world hurts his pockets too, for he is no Oprah or Gates or R. Burton. In a matter of fact, this protest is just the sort of thing Kanye gets inspiration from–as will Jay Z, Mos Def, Xhibit and other highly literate and conscious music artists. Yes, Kanye's lyric may sometimes have capitalistic overtones, he's in the art of making money;however, he has shown that social issues matter to him-publicly calling a white republican president a racist!- and he is free to do so in my book. Personally, I don't listen to his music in any form. I was born and raised in 'Do or Gentrify Bedstuy ™' and do not like rap.
