Kate Sylvester’s Sadomasochistic ‘Secretarial’ Fashion
New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester is paying homage to sadomasochistic drama/romance Secretary in her Autumn Winter 2012 collection, where modestly dressed models obediently march around a desk setup in a gradually naughty progression.
Taking inspiration directly from the movie, we see the ladies crawl, drop pencils, get spanked, and one of them is even wearing Maggie Gyllenhaal’s fancy arm/neck restraint. After a few of the girls are roped up in the center of the catwalk, the entire formation comes back out to assume their suggestive positions as the designer takes a bow. Me likey, and mostly importantly I bet Mr. Grey would too.
